Deviant Agendas won Honorable Mention Award in the Fiction-Thriller-Legal category from Readers’ Favorites at its annual international book award contest. Readers’ Favorite is one of the largest book award contests on the internet and Deviant Agendas competed with thousands of contestants from dozens of countries ranging from independent authors, NYT best sellers and celebrity authors.
Deviant Agendas also received the Best Indie Book Runner-up Award at the annual Shelf Unbound Best Indie Book Competition. An event hosted by Shelf Media for best self-published or independently published book.
Katherine has won awards and acknowledgments for her professional career including; Business Insurance’s Women to Watch. This award is the only recognition program that celebrates leading women from every facet of the commercial insurance industry. The Award program takes place in New York, New York every December and has had such notable keynote speakers as Ashley Judd.
The Women with Vison (Law) Award from the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois. This award is included as one of largest annual celebrations within the Chicago legal community within over 700 judges, lawyers and other corporate colleagues.
Katherine has received the Mercedes Mentor Award by Mercedes USA, Chicago Magazine, then Chicago’s Junior Women’s League.
Katherine has given numerous international presentations regarding topics including risk management, disaster recovery, claim management, bad faith and insurance recovery. Many took place in Australia along its Gold Coast after cyclones damaged its coastal properties and businesses, and in New Zealand after the earthquakes that destroyed Christchurch on the South Island. She also presented in Germany on risk management, and in Chile after the devastation to Santiago from a series of earthquakes.
Katherine was co-founder and executive committee member of Risk WorldWide LLC, and instrumental in the development of Risk WorldWide New Zealand. The New Zealand joint venture focused on the disasters of the Asia Pacific Region including the Christchurch earthquakes and Australian Cyclones.
Katherine founded, was Chair of the Board and ran Women for Achievement from 1996 to 2005. The non-profit corporation provided career mentors and scholarships for senior high school underserved young women to help them reach their potential and future career goals. This was a grass roots group of women and men who were passionate about empowering women and fighting for their futures. The Women for Achievement mentors and volunteers gave selflessly of their time to showcase their fields of expertise to help young women get connected in a career of their choice, and to understand the real work behind the scenes in that field.
